I believe that April 3, 2002 is your denial notice is the starting point then. Till that point you were legally employed based on the belief that your application will be approved. Again this is just the common sense readout based on what you copied in�
So,if you are less than 180 days here without employment authorization you might have a chance � would be nice to know:
-Why your case was denied at that time (L1B extension???) This usually never happens�
And/or
-What the basis of the straight denial right now? You might want to contact USCIS over the phone (to gain few days) or do you have the letter already?
Anyway ether cases I would contact the USCIS Ombudsman about the straight denial � they should not do it � they usually issue that Notice of Intent first. Search around the threads here - I�ve seen some cases where the applicant received an immediate denial and somehow they were able to push it back to the �let�s talk about it� mode� - which does not mean that you are safe, but it will buy you some time for you.
So your research might be right about the 240 day thing which could put this into a different level.

I have not tried Dish IP TV. If you are only looking at Indian programming, you may want to look at WatchIndia (dot) TV. I must point out that the quality was not great (especially while viewing on a large screen, it was good enough a Dual Core laptop). Recently they have introduced a STB option. I am guessing this maybe good. Anyway, they have a 15 day trial, which you can check out.
This could be one of your options, as you have a limitation of not availing of a satellite.

The CIR has gone into Senate Judiciary Committee. In my opinion, IV has worked as professional unit and acheived a lot. The task handled by IV core team is new just as it would be for any of us. IV need not even mention about the theorist. Let IV go about its task and there are so many people supporting it and contributing to it. IF CIR does not work out, there will be other options.

From my attorney and my understanding, say u have h1 and u started using ead.. later on u still have the unexpired h1b and u wanted to go back to h1 from ead, then all u do is go out of the country and go for visa stamping using ur h1 approval notice. Then you wil enter the country in h1b with a new i94 at POE. Then u are all set...

newbie2020 has taken the initiative of arranging the first conference call which was well received among the members. And one of the points he mentioned in the meeting is worth noting here.
People who are driven towards entrepreneurship have expertise in one or the other field. However they may be looking for help in fields other than their area of expertise. That is where IV members can help each and build their successful businesses.
For example, some of us may be experts in IT, few in Accounting, few in Marketing, few legal, few finance, etc. And a startup/business needs all these to become successful. That is where we can help each other and grow the businesses. And this is one intention behind starting the IV Entrepreneur yahoo group.

Correct me if I my understanding is wrong. We legals are not getting any action because law makers want to do a comprehensive reform instead of a piece meal legislations. If the CIR is not a possibility, is there not a good chance to push for reforms for legals on a piece meal basis ? Stuff like visa recapture, removing country cap, filing for 485 when dates are not current and all ?

First I have to apologize I missed out a detail in my question - will update my post to reflect this too. After Nov, 2007 the status of the L1-Extension application has been changed to Denied on April 3, 2002.
I did have a question about working during L1-Extension, I have been doing research since my last post - please read below:

I filed I-140 + I-485 concurrently. Sent a check for I-140 seperately and one for I-485 (EAD + AP) for $745 for my wife and me. Check made out to USCIS. However consult ur lawyer ...
Instead of starting a new thread. I would appreciate if someone answers a few questions regarding Check details that we send out to USCIS.
Went to lawyers office last week and signed all the applications. I made out onc check in the amount of $745 ($395 I-485 + $170 I-131 (AP) + $180 I-765 (EAD)) Payble to U.S Citizenship and Immigration Service. Now when I see the forms online it says the checks should be payable to Department of Homeland Security. Should I ask the lawyer to hold on to the application and send new checks.
Also , should I write three separate checks for $395 $170 $180. Just to make sure if there is an error in say Advanced payroll application, USCIS will keep the two check and send me back the Advanced Parol application.

I think it would do us more good than bad if we change the name to reflect legal immigration. You'd be surprised that politicians and journalists might even use us to argue their postion of NOT being against legal immigration which would be cheap publicity for us.
I would prefer we qualify it further though... to reflect HIGH SKILLED LEGAL immigrants. HSLIV?

It helps for the older PD's who were stuck in name check for many years.
They are collecting this for New visa # which are going to come in Oct.
So it does help them in identifying the cases with old pd's and solve the puzzle of why they are not being approved. Based on this number of cases they might move the visa dates accordingly.
Guru's any insights.
