It's paper and nothing more. Whenever some Mac weenie is like "we're REAL UNIX unlike Linux" I know I can safely just slap him. Certification means very little. Actual POSIX compliance—among other things—is what matters.
Certification means executing a test suite successfully, which includes a full POSIX compliance module. So what you say matters is what OS X has. But you knew that right ?
Getting the right to use the Unix trademark from The Open Group is far from a trivial matter that means very little. You'd have to know very little about what it means to be UNIX certified to post such a comment.

Once people, meaning women, are big enough that I figure they can't reach around behind them well enough to wipe their own butts, I get grossed out.
There is a Website called AmpleStuff that has living accessories geared toward larger people in general. This includes the Ample-Sponge, for cleaning those hard-to-reach sensitive areas. I'm not making this up. Laugh if you want, but products like this do allow big people a bit of dignity.

Obama's speech was awesome
I agree.
It's a good feeling that Osama is dead. It's not the end of al Qaeda, but it's the end of the first chapter of this ten year old war.

Do you have any certain settings set? Because I have a 2.16 MBP with 2GB of memory and it takes like 40 seconds to suspend and resume. I'm not getting anywhere near the few seconds you guys are talking about.
How big is the memory configured for the VM you are suspending?

I'm sure some of that is going to the music companies.
Take heart, though. This might not be bad news. What if we learn that this is a part of MobileMe and it's MobileMe that's changing to $20 per year?
Impossible? I dunno, I think charing $99 per year to sync iPhone data wirelessly is impossible for Apple to maintain. This may be their chance to gracefully deflate that balloon.
Is anyone on here going to delete all the music on their iPhone to be able to pay $20 per year to regain a subpar stream of there very own music? And at a detriment to their limited data amount? Am I missing something??
Again, this may be wishful thinking, but I can imagine Apple strong-arming carriers into exempting this service from their data-cap-measuring systems. Apple sure would like that. Do they have the power to make it happen, though? Maybe.

Apparently the 160GB HDD's performance is on par with the 100GB 7200RPM and a tad faster than the 120GB??

Apple has done something VERY important with the iPod. They made it cool, especially among teens thru college-aged kids. Whenever I'm in an Apple store, it's very obvious just how strongly Apple is going after this demographic and I think it's paying off. Once Zune comes out, would you want to be the one kid in school who has a dorky Microsoft MP3 player? Sure, it will probably have more features. Just like those calculator wristwatch things. They are loaded with features too. That doesn't mean that 99% of kids would be caught dead wearing one.
Too many features can be a bad thing. I remember guy back in college... He always had the latest and greatest gadgets. Cell phone and beeper on his belt, you know they type. ***** tool.
As long as the iPod keeps it's position as the "cool" MP3 player, they will be just fine.

Looks like you are your own team?
Where is the fun there? By joining us you can help a top 100 team and keep visibility if you are in the top 20 crunchers of a team. If you join a huge team, you have no visibility.
You can compete with team members...
Check this:

My criterias for being in a team are:
- the team must be in the top 100 (dropped my old team because of that)
- I must be a top 20 cruncher in that team
- the team must be mac related

I have a question...
Even now they have Thunderbolt, I suppose we'd still require expensive video converters to be able to use the (27") iMac as a display for an Xbox 360/PS3?
I don't suppose Thunderbolt means we can now just use a simple cable adaptor or something, no?

Finally Apple are back from those awful tanking sales G4 years, though will they ever break through that 5% glass ceiling?

Do you notice the bug?
So you're assuming that Apple are merging both stores into 1 and that developers have had time to implement universal binaries that run on 2 different frameworks and submitted the result to the app store ?
This is obviously a bug, but it's not what you think it is. ;)

I wonder how many people will side-grade to the white one. Not sure how many new sales this will spur.

You know, considering that the other countries are getting it in a little over a week, I think the chances of getting on in a store are pretty slim. It sounds like stores are only getting a handful of models, and for the past 2 days in a row, all of the stores I've called around here have only received 64GB Verizon models if anything.
It REALLY sucks that I've got to wait 3 weeks for my white iPad to ship, but honestly at this point I think that's going to be shorter than trying to wait it out for one at the store.
I just wish I'd lined up at the Brea Mall store at like, 5AM. :/

I don't want to be ignorant, but I thought that HT was all about utilising the unused portions of each core. But if you're running F@H shouldn't those cores be fully utilised anyway?
